Come join us at SAT for the second evening of Quebec Hip Hop Improvisation League
The first edition of this electrifying event brought more than 600 spectators. Be part of it and watch two games opposing the 2004-2005 season’s four teams. You will first attend the match between Off the Hook and DrunknMunky, and then the one between Evidence and Team Phat Pharm.
Faithful to the spirit of improvisation, the matches of the Improvisation League feature teams putting together artists from the hip hop scene (Francophone & Anglophone MCs, breakers) who must perform on specific themes, with style and time restrictions.
But this League offers you more than improvisation! Shows you won’t want to miss are presented throughout the evening. In the opening act, you will see Metazon, a Montreal trio formed by the rappers Don Coloma, Beyondah and Megga. Their hip hop is a mix of latin music combined with rap that transcends languages: it uses English, Creole and Spanish lyrics. MontrealUndeground.com will set a fun combat in two rounds between DJ “The Nature Boy” Godfather D and “Medecine Man” D.R. One. During the intermission, graffiti artist Monk-E will execute a live painting which will be drawn amongst the crowd.
This evening is produced by Quebec Hip Hop Improvisation League in collaboration with the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) and supported by Loco Locass.
Quebec Hip Hop Improvisation League was founded in June 2003. Its operations aim at 4 objectives: the networking of emerging artists with more experienced ones, the improvement of the artists’ techniques, the acknowledgement of the new artists’ talent by those aware of the hip hop culture and finally the discovery by a larger public of the many facets of this artistic movement.
The often humoristic and creative side of the League’s players’ performances allow a wider access for the general public to hip hop music and dance. It also helps in leaving the prejudices related to the hip hop world behind.
