A Zambian-Canadian rapper and producer based in Montreal, Backxwash is most noted for her 2020 Polaris Music Prize-winning album God Has Nothing To Do With This Leave Him Out Of It. Backxwash has release her new LP Only Dust Remains on March 28th. The album takes a new direction that showcases her evolution into a broader sonic landscape.

This live experience will feature powerful performances, striking visuals, and special guest sets from two incredible featured artists: MAGELLA (experimental/électronic) and Fernie (R&B/soul). Expect an evening of powerful music, raw emotion, and boundary-pushing artistry.

Backxwash aka Ashanti Mutinta is a Zambian-Canadian rapper & producer based in Montreal, Quebec. She is most noted for her 2020 Polaris Music Prize-winning album God Has Nothing To Do With This Leave Him Out Of It. Backxwash's trilogy (2020—2022) reflects different points in her life and delves into themes of identity, spirituality, and personal struggle, blending haunting beats with unfiltered, introspective lyricism. Backxwash emerges from the shadows of her trilogy with Only Dust Remains March 28th, 2025. The album takes a new direction that showcases her evolution into a broader sonic landscape.

Fernie

Fernie was born in Brazil, but grew up in Montreal, adopted into a home where English, Portuguese, French and German were spoken. It was a difficult and often alienating childhood, but Fernie found an escape in songwriting. Fernie released his debut album, “Aurora” in 2021, showcasing his incredible voice and immense talent. He has performed at all the key festivals and his project has generated an international buzz. Radio Nova, Rolling Stone France, RFI, KCRW, Exclaim! and many other media have hailed Fernie's talents. In 2023, he signed a deal with Secret City Records after collaborating with mentor Patrick Watson on the powerful single “Pain”, subsequently released in April 2024. His most recent EP, “Hopeless Dream”, was released on February 14, 2025.

MAGELLA

MAGELLA is a Montreal-based singer-songwriter with the diasporic blues. With a futuristic vision, she writes songs based on her various music influences with a combination of electronic, experimental and art music.
