The SAT presents Nova Materia (FR-CL)(live), MOAB (live), Faux Sommets and M Salaciak for a night of sonic exploration.
French-Chilean duo Nova Materia stop off at the SAT, two days after a performance at NYC’s prestigious Lincoln Center, for a show tinged with post-punk rock and electro sounds. For those who don’t know them, listen to them and you’ll be hooked.
Also on the bill: experimental and energetic electro nuggets from MOAB (regular residents of N10.AS), Faux Sommets and M Salaciak.
A DJ – live show – DJ formula the way it used to be done!
Franco-Chilean duo formed by Caroline Chaspoul and Eduardo Henriquez, Nova Materia is a musical journey through genres and practices. From the early post-punk to today’s sound experiments, the duo invents powerful and hyper rhythmic music, stemming from raw and mineral materials, sampled in particular from metal and stone. Since its beginnings, the duo has multiplied transdisciplinary collaborations and collaborates with videographers, theatre directors, writers and writers, often in the context of installations and multimedia performances.
MOAB is an experimental music band made up of five musicians from Montreal. Driven by an oceanic feeling, the ensemble proposes a profound sonic exploration, an instinctive experience rooted in both psyche and body. The free improvisation pieces, which can last over an hour, are part of a continuum in which melodic candor becomes a partner to anguish. The name MOAB refers to the town of the same name in Utah, where the passage of time and its inclemency have left a psychedelic mark on the landscape.
A member of MOAB, Simon St-Louis offers an alternative, leftfield musical flow that never fails to amaze, enthrall and become a space for discovery. This sonically reckless spirit is embodied in several series he's been running for several years now, including Loose Screws and Air Supply, which have welcomed artists such as James K, Sina, Alix Fernz and others.
M Salaciak
Somewhere in Montreal, M salaciak is in a tiny room surrounded by synthesizers and drum machines. Reading manuals and schematics, he is slowly going mad. M salaciak performances exist temporarily. Rather than making music, he is obsessed with unleashing the potential of each machine, resulting in pulsating electronic frequencies linked together in unison. He leaves this room sometimes to co-run temple records alongside Richard Wenger (Richard) and Adam Feingold (Ex-Terrestrial)
