ÉCOLAB
Culture & Ecology Meetups
On November 11th, starting at 6pm, the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT] invites you to participate in its first edition of Écolab – Rencontres culture & écologie. This event, initiated by the SAT’s environmental committee [Ecolab], will be open to the public and will bring together a panel of speakers from Quebec’s cultural communities to collectively discuss the various issues related to the current climate crisis.
Taking place on the sidelines of COP 26, the SAT will open its doors to serve as an aggregator and catalyst of ideas, connecting artists, cultural organizations, scholars and citizens to help pave the way towards just, equitable and achievable environmental solutions for all.
This evening will be an opportunity to discover different initiatives and projects focusing on the theme of climate change through short visual presentations. Adopting a multidisciplinary and interprofessional approach, our goal is to encourage and generate discussions between different communities to share best practices in the face of the climate crisis, amplify each other’s work, discuss concrete solutions and meet potential collaborators.

A brief overview of COP 26
From November 1st to 12th, the United Kingdom (in collaboration with Italy) will host the 26th session of the Convention of the Parties (COP). The event takes place in Glasgow and will be bringing together international leaders to try to organize and accelerate concerted action to combat climate change.
COP 26 also marks the 6th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. An agreement that was supposed to mark a turning point in the international approach to the climate crisis and which was signed by a majority of countries that agreed to make every effort to limit global warming to below 1.5 degrees. However, since then, we can observe that the temperature continues to rise and that the investments of the different industrial powers have not kept their promises.
VACCINE PASSPORT REQUIRED
Following the new health measures, the vaccine passport is required for all vistors (13 +), starting September 1, 2021. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, along with photo ID will be required upon entrance.
