Since 1990, the
EICV encourages the diffusion of artistic video works from
students and future artists from Concordia, as well as from
many other universities. Members from the organizing committee
unite in order to promote the talent of student artists in a professional setting.
The EICV is a non-profit
making event and aims to call for the participation of students, ungraduate
or graduate, from the different Quebec’s Universities. We are pleased
to announce that this year’s organizing team is composed by students from
Concordia, Université de Montréal
and Université du Québec à Montréal.
The artists from
the province of Quebec which participate to the EICV are also enlisted for a
contest. In fact, a jury, formed by professionals from the artistic milieu,
will present more than 8000$ worth in prizes, an increase of
2000$ from last year. This is made possible by the generosity of our many sponsors
and donors.
Recipient of the
Force Avenir prize in 2004, and open to international productions since its
13th edition, the EICV provides a space of exchange between new artists. The
organizing committee wishes to improve and develop contacts with universities
outside Quebec. Again this year, we will include international videos.
Truly a promotion
tool for new artists, many of them who have previously participated
in the previous editions of the event have later been invited to participate
in festivals such as the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois,
the Festival imagines, the Festival du nouveau cinéma et des nouveaux
médias (FCMM), the Festival international des films sur l’art (FIFA),
Silence on Court, as well as in festivals in France and Belgium.
Thus, the EICV
builds an opportunity and creates an event which is of interest
for the artistic milieu, providing visibility for new artists
and creating strong links between different student communities. The event wishes
to bring together as many people interested by video creation as possible, in
a festive and creative event.
