A mesmerizing journey through the quantum realm, where complex theories become a breathtaking sensory experience.
ENTANGLEMENT:DOME is a dazzling work created by France Jobing and Markus Heckmann that distills quantum physics theories into a swooping sensorial experience. It interprets the concept of entanglement: when two or more particles link up, and no matter how far apart they are in space, their states remain linked. It is an uncanny phenomenon in quantum physics, one that defies explanations.
The piece oscillates between four theories: the fluidity of time, the multiverse, the Copenhagen interpretation and decoherence. These complex notions are translated into a visually and sonically stunning experience guided by science, technology, and the sensitivity needed to illustrate what cannot be visualized. The viewer contemplates these revolving realms, composed of intricate graphics and audio.
Jobin and Heckmann will be in Montreal from September 3 to 7 to present their work in live performance for five nights only. The project will then be presented in film format in the Satosphere from September 17.

About the artists
France Jobin
France Jobin, a sound and visual artist based in Montreal, is known for her minimalist "sound sculptures" that blend analog and digital elements. Her installations, influenced by architecture, incorporate music and visuals to create immersive environments. Her work, often showcased at festivals and unconventional spaces internationally, explores sonic contrasts, playing with extremes to enhance the auditory experience. Published by Touch Music/Fairwood Music UK Ltd, Jobin continues to innovate by using new technologies to further develop her creations.
Markus Heckmann, a media artist and Technical Director at Derivative in Toronto since 2006, merges generative computer graphics with the physicality of light in his work. A graduate of the Technical University of Ilmenau and the Bauhaus University of Weimar, Heckmann uses TouchDesigner to create innovative visual instruments for live, improvised performances. His visual art, characterized by abstract colors, shapes, and movements, explores imaginary spaces, making the medium itself a subject of artistic exploration. Notably, he collaborated with France Jobin and Richard Chartier for the DUO AV performance at Mutek and PRECTXE in 2019.
