IGDA’s Montreal
Chapter invites you all to attend the next chapter presentation and social night.
It will take place on Monday, December 5th from 7pm to 10pm at SAT.
This chapter meeting
will focus on all of the discussion of a creative crisis facing the industry
elaborated by the various Montreal Game Summit keynote speeches…
Debate
– Creative Crisis or Explosion of Opportunity (English panel)
– moderator: Jason Della Rocca, Executive Director, IGDA
– Chris Crowell, Senior World Architect, Ubisoft
– Rémi Racine, President, Artificial Mind and Movement
– Ollie Sykes, Creative Director, DC Studios
– Alex Thabet, VP Sales, JAMDAT Mobile
An underlying theme
at the recent Montreal Game Summit was that the industry is at a crossroads.
Many claimed that we are in a state of creative crisis. What is at the heart
of this discontent? Is there truly a crisis, or is this just part of “growing
up” as an industry and art form? And, to the extent we do have problems,
what are some solutions? Are there pointers that can give us hope that all will
be fine? This panel will pit two creative types versus two business types to
see how far apart (or close) their thoughts are on these questions. Come prepared
for a lively and interactive debate!
In addition to
the evening’s panel, there will be an IGDA members’ raffle for game development
books from Charles River Media, t-shirts, games and other goodies.
As this is a presentations
night, you are encouraged to arrive early so we can get started on time at 7pm.
Of course, we will still have plenty of time for the usual networking and socializing.
Feel free to forward
this email to your co-workers, or just bring them along. Free drinks and snacks
will be provided, but not dinner…
