FEBRUARY 6, 2021 IN THE VIRTUAL SPACE SATELLITE
iX Symposium 2021 : Sound & Immersion
with the Ircam Forum
For its 7th edition, the iX Symposium will explore the theme of Sound & Immersion, in partnership with the Ircam Forum and McGill University.
As innovations multiply in the field of sound immersion, the 2021 iX Symposium format will provide an opportunity to interactively explore the new creative possibilities of immersive audio technologies.
For this unusual edition, the iX Symposium invites you to experience a new kind of conference in a virtual 3D space: the SATELLITE Hub.
In this interactive environment, Metalab, the SAT’s R&D lab, will present its projects and tools for sound immersion. On the program: an acoustic simulation in a virtual reconstruction of an 18th century Paris neighbourhood, and a sound navigation prototype in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. The presentations will be followed by experiments and discussions with the audience.
For the second part of the day, three immersive works and projects selected following an international call for proposals will be presented in experimental walking mode through the virtual space.
This event is jointly organized with the Ircam Forum, in partnership with McGill University, with support from the City of Montreal.
