The UDA (Union des Artists) is hosting the participation of the ADAMI, a French society managing the rights of artists (actors, singers, orchestral conductors, dancers, and more) at this year’s festival, in order to discuss the burning issues regarding artists’ rights. A soon to be signed agreement between France and Quebec. The ever growing number of co-productions between the two countries. Why do Quebec artists have less rights than their French counterparts. Piracy. New broadcasting platforms. All this and more… Will also be shown in special presentations the latest ‘TALENTS CANNES, with shorts films directed by Patrice Leconte, the Larrieu brothers, Nicolas Klotz and Mathieu Amalric.

CINÉMA PARALLÈLE TURNS 40
A celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Cinéma Parallèle. Starting at 7p.m., the opening film will kick off the festivities in all three of the Ex-Centris theatres. Followed by a dance party featuring DJ Papa dans Maman and Catherine Love City, along with visuals created by Vox Pop Montréal.
