March 19
– 9pm – $10 at the door
The Laïka,
darling bistro of Montreal’s artistic crowd, will happily celebrate its 6th
birthday on Saturday, March 19. As we want to be sure there will be sufficient
space to welcome all our guests, the party will once again be held at SAT. For
the occasion, each and every DJ resident since the Laïka’s opening will
play their 5 favorite tracks ever. VJs Edonist, Pillow and Cinetik
will show they’re in the mood, too, and will take charge of the visuals.
Will play on the
turntables until the wee hours of the morning: Christelle (aka La Cigale),
Clemens Brandt, David Kristian, DJ Prune (aka Bruno), Ernesto Ferreyra, Frivolous
(live), IamDjSylvie, Jetboy (aka Montag), Leo Cruz, MadMax (aka Champion), Mark
O.D. (aka Akufen), Maüs, Patrick Watson, PFreud, Soul Sista, Soundshaper,
The Mole (of soul), Thunderbolt (aka Martin Dumais).
The Laïka was founded
in 1999 by Samuel Lambert and Bruno Ricciardi-Rigault in order to offer to Montreal’s
artistic community a place to meet and greet, at night and during the day. It
is ocated on 4040/4060 St. Laurent boulevard. Right from the beginning, its
mission was to democratize the work of DJs by allowing them to perform outside
the habitual circuit of clubs. 2005 will be a turning point in the Laïka’s existence.
Bruno Ricciardi-Rigault will become sole owner and initiate a series of exciting
projects for the Laïka and its team: aggrandizement of space, installation of
a new sound system, free internet access, otimization of the equipement, improvement
of the quality of products, services and the employees’ working conditions,
new interactive website created by BlueSpone (sales on line, direct broadcast
of the music payed in the cafe, cultural agenda… a real virtual Laïka!) And
it’s only the beginning…
