Maisonneuve Magazine
will present VISUAL CURIOSITY, its third annual [Not Just] Art Event
at SAT.
Maisonneuve Magazine has
become known as the ultimate resource for curious, eclectic, informative and
entertaining stories. VISUAL CURIOSITY 2005 takes that spirit from the page
onto the stage. Come out and party with us, whether you are a subscriber, newsstand
buyer or have never heard of the magazine before.
What is VISUAL CURIOSITY?
VISUAL CURIOSITY is an intelligent and unpretentious “concept” party,
a combination of art, performance, music, food and fashion, presented with elegance,
style and wit. It’s a vernissage with attitude, a psychedelic St. Andrew’s
Ball, a carnivalesque evening that blurs conventional boundaries.
More than 2,000 people attended
last year’s party!
Event highlights:
ART: flying squirrels, wooden eels, Rorschach landscapes.
VIDEO ART: by Nicholas and Sheila
Pye.
MUSIC: live performance by hit band The High Dials.
BEATS: DJ Mike Shannon, a central figure in
Canada’s emerging electronic music scene.
NAKED BUFFET: exotic fruit and chocolates served on live models
(M+F) courtesy of caterer Avocado.
FASHION SHOW: Montreal designer Jessie May,
of Sex & the City fame, presents her latest fashions.
OXYGEN BAR: free rejuvenation, back by popular demand, courtesy
of Oxygen Oasis Bar.
MIND-READING: get a glimpse of your personal future with a
friendly psychic.
All this for a $5 cover
charge.
The event will also celebrate
the launch of the magazine’s fourteenth issue, themed “Good &
Evil”. The issue, on newsstands now, displays the original art that will
be shown at VISUAL CURIOSITY.
Doors open at 8 PM. and
the first 500 revellers will receive a gift bag filled with goods from local
Montreal shops as well as goodies from Maisonneuve. What more do you need to
turn off the TV and don your spiffy new spring threads? Simply stated, this
is the spring party not to miss!
It’s safe,
fun, and open to adults of all ages.
