The 2005 edition of MUTEK was articulated by the Placard project. Developed in close collaboration
with the broadcasting arm of Büro (www.b-u-r-o.com), this program featured
more than 60 artists who presented their works to a captive audience. The listeners,
on site, were connected to the artists via headphones along with a multitude
of Internet users who were also connected.
The success of
this first collaboration led to the desire to reinstate it again this year.
The 2006 edition of the MUTEK Festival welcomes a new audiovisual PLACARD in
a modified format. Highly anticipated by festivalgoers and certainly by musicians
and video makers alike, the event-laboratory welcomes over a period of two days
forty-odd original performances of electronic music and inspired improvisations.
PLACARD//MUTEK2006
inaugurates the 2006 three-month long season of the PLACARD, held around the
globe. A festival within a festival, PLACARD//MUTEK2006 is an occasion for impromptu
and open collaboration between musicians, a space for meetings and exchanges
as well as an invitation to a quality listening session.
Rules of participation:
Participation at PLACARD//MUTEK2006 is open and rests on the responsibility
of the artists. Erik Minkkinen of Büro, founder of the Placard festival
and Eric Mattson, administrator of this second collaboration between the Placard
and MUTEK, will be your hosts during the duration of the event.
The MUTEK Festival assumes the production costs of the event; however, while
artist participation is strongly encouraged, involvement is done so at the artist’s
discretion and is strictly on a pro bono basis.
A time-slot schedule will be available soon and can be found at www.leplacard.org.
It will permit artists to freely choose their participation times and for the
organizers of the Placard to manage the performances and time frames.

please contact Eric Mattson at [email protected] to obtain more information,
or reserve a time slot (yes, reservations are available before the schedule
is available online!).
