The SAT welcomes Scottish duo Optimo (Espacio) and Montreal's The Fitness for an evening under the SAT dome.
Optimo (Espacio) are the duo JD Twitch and JG Wilkes. They each have over 30 years DJ-ing experience and have become both renowned and highly respected for their memorable and ecstatic deejay sets. Twitch and Wilkes exhibit a unique disregard for genres and musical restrictions in their craft, creating a nightclub experience that strikes out into territories far beyond the accepted boundaries of club music.
They will be joined by The Fitness, a veteran of the Montreal scene. The evening promises unique and groovy dance beats.
The 360° visual sky will feature the colorful, glitchy creations of Création Ex Nihilo and TiND.
From Lithuania to Brazil, Japan to Germany, Optimo have played pretty much everywhere. Just as much at home on the main stage at Dekmantal as a tiny basement sweat box in Glasgow, they are DJs whose exceptional skills can elevate any party to another level, can transport any audience and deliver unforgettable clubbing experiences. The duo were responsible for the Glasgow nightclub Optimo (Espacio) which ran from November 1997 until April 2010. Optimo sat at the very epicentre of the Scottish Clubbing consciousness in its weekly residency in the Sub Club and is widely regarded as one of the most important and ground-breaking clubs of the past two decades
The Fitness moved to Montreal when he was 17 and has spent almost all that time since making space for himself in the Montreal night life scene as a versatile dj. Having secured residencies at clubs all over the city starting at the infamous Blue Dog Motel, Newspeak, Velvet, Datcha, Stereobar to name a few and making appearances at festivals like Piknic Electronik, Igloofest, Osheaga and Ile Soniq. He started gaining international interest after signing with the legendary Crew Love record label alongside mentors and friends Wolf + Lamb and Soul Clap. Those relationships have created amazing gigs to be able to play his live show alongside Pony in Barcelona at Off-Sonar, XOYO in London and Summer Soltice Festival in Iceland, Vujaday Festival in Barbados and Art Basel in Miami.
Guillaume Bourassa is a new media artist and co-founder of Création Ex Nihilo (Interactivity, Immersive, AI, App, Mapping, 3D; Nuit Blanche, MUTEK, PQDS, SAT, Place-des-arts). Active since 2001, TiND is a video art group renowned on the Montreal scene for having developed their own techniques for live audiovisual creation.
