Acadian multidisciplinary artist Samuel Landry found success thanks to their alter ego, the “trashy, spicy-humored” drag queen Sami Landri. Through the art of drag, Landry made waves in their native New Brunswick by being crowned Acadian Queen in 2020. They went viral the following year when their character asked the iconic question: “Do you have a lighter?” on TikTok, in numerous videos loved and shared by millions of fans across the French-speaking world. Since then, Sami has made numerous television appearances, interviews, and performances in Canada and Europe, while helping to popularize Chiac, Acadian culture, and queer struggles with humor, irony, intelligence, and charisma.
