Learn more about our current projects and our new funding initiatives.
This event will be held at the Centre Mont-Royal in Montreal and will offer a first showcase for our 2006-2008 Major Projects currently underway as well as a description of the four main tracks for our upcoming 2008-2010 Major Projects. This new round of industry-university R&D partnerships is made possible by the Quebec Government’ Strategy on Research and Innovation, unveiled in December 2006 by Mr. Raymond Bachand, Quebec’s Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade.
The 2007 Conference will be of interest to all our industry, academic and government partners whose collective involvement is paramount to the success of Prompt-Québec. The process and timeline leading to the 2008-2010 Major Project grant competition will be outlined along with a description of specific themes. Three of these tracks tackle important vertical markets for the Information and Communication Technologies Industry namely, Public Safety, Healthcare and Media. Another track deals with integrated wireless and optical networks.
Among our keynote speakers, we are pleased to welcome Dr Peter Gloor, Professor at the Sloan School of Technology Management of the Massachussets Institute of Technology; Dr Gloor will offer his views on «Collaborative Innovation Networks».
We will also welcome Mr. Alan Barker, President, Ultra Electronics, Tactical Communication Systems, who will speak on the defense market opportunity for Quebec as well as on the importance of R&D expertise for Ultra Electronics.
As well, Mr. Mathieu Lemay, CEO of Inocybe Technologies, will present a future vision of networks entitled «Networks Virtualization: From Service Providers to Infrastructure Providers».
Mr. Alan Graves from Nortel will also discuss the commercial and technology challenges that need to be overcome in order to tap the e-Health market, the most important vertical market for the ICT industry worldwide.
Finally, another segment of our program will deal with a Major Project to be realized in partnership with our sister organization Hexagram, an industry-university R&D consortium in the field of technology arts.
