ENTROPY WILL BE LARGER TOMORROW
Laura Luna Castillo (MEX/USA) ![]() ENTROPY WILL BE LARGER TOMORROW
Synopsis : Optimistic and cruel objects that we’ve gathered along the years populate the margins of the place we call home. We’ve taken refuge inside our homes, we exist within a procession of nameless days and our homes have become a place where past and future collide in an eternal now. Like nebulas, all our aspirations, doubts, terror and bewilderment, meet head on inside our present. Many temporalities swirl around each other within the everyday fabric of a vertigo-inducing uncertainty. In this universe, entropic chaos is the only constant. Biography : Laura Luna Castillo is a multimedia artist and musician from Mexico. Exploring the mechanisms of memories, imagination and the perception of inhabited spaces through multiple angles and temporalities, Laura has developed different multidisciplinary projects, where materials and technologies coexist in the forms of audiovisual performances, objects, installations and interactive works. In 2016, she was a selected SHAPE 2016 artist (Platform for Innovative Music and Audiovisual Art from Europe) and presented several audiovisual and multimedia projects on different international festivals and residencies, such as MUTEK Montréal, Unsound Krakow, CYNETART (International Festival for computer Based Art) in Dresden, the Hello World Festival (Women and Digital Creativity) in Mexico City and two immersive 360 degree VR projects at EMPAC (The Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and at The Cube Fest 2019 at Virginia Tech, USA. She is currently based in Seattle, USA, where she is pursuing a PhD in Digital Arts and Experimental Media at DXARTS, University of Washington. |

Jules Roze (FRA/CAN) ![]() TROUBLANTS TROUS NOIRS
Synopsis : Troublants Trous Noirs is an original collaboration developed by two digital artists. Biography : Jules Roze establishes his skills in the interactive, visual and sound fields. After a bachelor’s degree in music and science, he will achieve a master’s degree in computer music during which he will develop his programming skills. Passionate about the bridges between art, science and technique, he presented his works in various places and structures such as the Arario Museum in Seoul or the CNRS of Paris-Saclay or Photon Fundacja in Krakow. Yanik Tremblay-Simard studied electroacoustic composition at Université de Montréal and explored multiphonic composition, digital arts, creative coding and visual arts. He gets inspiration from experimental cinema, heavy metal and minimalism in many medias. He plays as Sol Miracula, a conceptual dark ambient project that acts as an hybrid between Electroacoustic music and Doom Metal created with tools used in experimental electronic music. |
THE FACE OF THE RAIN
Marcella França (BRA/CAN) ![]() THE FACE OF THE RAIN
Synopsis: The Face of the Rain is an immersive performance that talks about memory, the life cycle, and the concept of non-linear time through the realization that we are all born from water and become rain after our death. The artist Marcella França mixes contemporary dance and digital art, to offer a poetic experience about mourning. Her character tries to revive her father’s presence interacting with the rain, and in this immersive emotional search, the artwork provokes the following questions: Biography: Marcella França is a multidisciplinary artist. Her first training was as a dancer and choreographer. She also started her formal studies in painting and, years later, in video art. She graduated in visual communication specializing in audiovisual and experience projects. Marcella pursues the poetic rapture in the relation between the Water element and existential human issues. Through her research in science and philosophy, the artist explores the physical-chemical aspects of Water, such as fluidity, volatility, materiality, and immateriality, correlating them with intangible concepts such as impermanence, the becoming, and memory, passing through relationships between movement, ecofeminism, and life. The artist gives visibility to those subjects through the hybridism of her artworks, which mix interactive audiovisual technologies, as extended realities (XR, VR, and movement sensors) with videos, performances, and sculptural/immersive installations. |
BLACK MANTIS – THE BUILD
4Pi Productions (GBR) ![]() BLACK MANTIS – THE BUILD

IMMUNITY
Montreal Life Support (GBR / CAN) ![]() IMMUNITY
Synopsis : A music video. Lying deep within the vastness of our gaps in understanding of our own human biology the film explores the realm of microbiology through a fictional narrative. What is really going on inside the fleshy bodies of life? Biography : David Gardener (Montreal Life Support) is a Montreal-based British artist and musician working with a wide range of disciplines and mediums, with an aim to create stimulating and emotionally engaging works. Often integrating engineered materials, kinetic elements, interactivity, choreographed light & multi directional sound. Joining the dots between the classical fields of philosophy and traditional art and fusing them with modern technologies. His work aims to give humans meaningful and tangible experiences delivered through the narrative of each piece. |
SOMNIUM
Dimitri Thouzery (FRA) ![]() SOMNIUM
Synopsis : Somnium takes us on a journey from the macroscopic to the microscopic, rambling between memories, imagination and dreams. The piece takes advantage of the dome’s immersive faculties to allow the spectator to feel matter and time in their imperceptible scales. Biography : Dimitri Thouzery is a new media artist whose typical black and white aesthetic, an imaginary transposition of binary logic and algorithmic coldness, aims to connect the spectator to the universal. The artist and sound designer Ludovic Finck explores our perception and new relationships with sound. He expresses himself on new media art and is particularly interested in immersive experiences. |
PIECED
Sean Caruso (CAN) ![]() PIECED
Synopsis : In recent times the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, GAN’s and algorithms in artistic applications has been on the rise. There are many AI tools available today to assist creators at various points in the production process, whether it’s streamlining normally tedious tasks with precision, or generating completely new stunning pieces of digital art. Our question: Can AI generate 360° environments formatted for fulldome? Machine learning is an area of research within the field of artificial intelligence (AI). For this experiment, we used RunwayML, a platform for training your own models. The term model refers to the result of training a machine learning algorithm with a dataset. A machine learning algorithm finds patterns within the data and develops its own rules for how to represent—or model—those patterns to perform a specific task. These rules are not designed by humans; they are learned from the data on which the model was trained. People build models in different programming languages, with different frameworks, and for different purposes, such as to recognize spam email, classify objects, edit images and video, and capture motion. In our case in PIECED we want to train a model that generates images of architectural facades that respect the geometric attributes and perspective of the domemaster format. Biography : Constantly challenging cinematic and technical workflows, Sean Caruso focuses mainly on narration through immersive imagery while exploiting the potential of the dome to its fullest. A sound designer for almost 15 years, Mourad Bncr specializes in immersive environments and interactive content. Known as Famelik on the Montreal electronic scene, he’s also written original compositions for several film soundtracks, such as Pierre Friquet’s immersive horror film Patterns (Best immersive work – FNC eXPlore 2016). |
