Peach sweat

It would seem that electronic music is binary, that
our opinions are polar and that the reality of our body and its perception
are two opposing things.

It would seem that classical music glides, that
video flows and that a dancer is gracious.

It would seem that the heart beats, that the lymph
flows and that a peach skin is appreciable.

It would seem that there are certain types of music
for certain bodies, as well as images for certain codes.

What about confronting these realities?

A ludic experiment in perceptions of the body and
rhythms. A free bonus to the spectacle of Manon Oligny. With images
stolen from the show, Thomas Israël and Jan Pienkowski rebound
with a Belgian twist.

Thomas Israel first approach of video was within
the framework of theatre, simultaneously with his actor’s career
centered on interdisciplinary contemporary creation. Career which it
carries out in Europe since 1997. He follows an intensive formation
in video and create Horizon TröM in February 2005, performance-installation
juxtaposing video installations, interactive videos, sound installations,
dance and actors performances as many entrance doors towards the link
with our deaths.

Various installations of the TröM Project are
exposed thereafter autonomousely in the visual art and the video world
(ManaArt Gallery, Foire of Contemporary art Talent 2005, Vidéoformes
Festival of video and new media). He has just exposed in Brussels two
new video installations “The womens of my life” and “Peeping
Tom” for the inauguration of the JCG Contemporary Gallery and work
on a new video project baptized SKIN. As Vj he mixes only videos filmed
by himself, at the P3P in Brussels and lately at the Night of the electronic
arts with Vidéoformes in Clermont Ferrand.

Jan Pienkowski – onorecords.com

A composer, musician, sound designer, DJ and physicist,
Jan Pienkowski writes and performs music reflecting his diverse background.
From his Electroacoustic training and love of World Music comes a mixture
of mechanical bleeps, acoustic spaces and ethnic themes. From his theatre
(DIALOG) and dance (A.R.M. with choreographer Nikolas Dixon) experience
comes a flair for the dramatic and a feel for intricate rhythms.

Jan’s performances span Canada, U.S., France
and Hong Kong. His latest 2005 Shiva project with VJ Nokami has been
shown at festivals in Thailand, Germany, UK, Sweden, Austria, Romania,
Italy, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, USA and Canada, with India
finally being added to the list of countries for 2006.

Jan has been also very active on the Montreal scene
with shows at the Black & Blue Festival, Montreal High Lights Festival,
Festival du nouveau cinéma, Fantasia Festival, Fringe/ Pop Festival,
Divers/Cité Festival, Tangente, Agora Festif, Exit, and regular
appearances at the SAT, U Lounge, Saphir, Luba Lounge and Green Room.
Jan’s Live and DJ mixes have landed him spots as featured artist
on New York’s Proton Radio, Chicago’s Clubland Underground,
Chicago’s 92.5 FM and Montreal’s CKUT 90.3 FM.

Jan is constantly expanding on what it means to
be an electronic musician by collaborating with soloists (saxophone,
violin, voice), visual artists, painters and dancers. He organises evenings
and performs often at the SAT, with a range of shows including: the
first Technopera (Turandot) with the singers from the Atelier lyrique
de l’Opéra de Monréal; Incidents improvisés,
blending Schubert and Chopin with electronic structures; and regular
[Mix_Sessions] combining the talents of musicians, dj’s and vj’s.

Athanore is a collective of conceptual art, gaining
price Tip of the hat 2004, working both in Quebec and in South America
in the fields of the video, photo, visual anthropology and vjing. Athanore
endeavours to explore and chart the human psyche and its imaginary visual
through projects multi-media which make it possible to question the
relationship between the symbolic representation and their interpretations.
Via exposures, performances, video projections and workshops the collective
makes the promotion of collaborative creation, research in visual communication
and experimentation in video.

The Athanore collective presented its visual explorations
at the time of many shows both in Canada and in South America within
the framework of music performance, fashion parades, special evenings
and cultural events. Athanore took part in the Agora Festif, with the
Great masquerade, with the Festival Camera Obscura and has of multiple
other events. In Mexico, it presented multimedia shows and gave workshops
on visual creation. Athanore also endeavours to develop a space of research
and exploration in collaborative creation (Laboratoire de communautique
appliquée UQÀM, international exchanges) For further information

The collective carried out a number of projects in
photography (fashion, cinema, conceptual art, corporative), in video
(conceptual art, documentary cultural, video clip) and into multimedia
(installation, graphics logo, web). Athanore thus took part in the success
of visual concepts for the UQÀM (University from Quebec in Montreal),
the festival of the Creole Month, Kepkaa (Association of the promotion
of the Creole in Montreal), the Festival Coma, the Festival of the earth,
the ANCQ, the Great masquerade (Spectra, Loto-Quebec) and others!
