SAT[MixSessions] presents Anadama - Free

Anadama

Anadama is a platform for artistic collaboration directed
by Dana Dal Bo and An Soubiran. This project questions the nature of the
collaborative process, and the role of the individual artist within it.
Experts from diverse fields work together to create evocative characters
and environments. The results are surreal, often dark and complicated
tableaus. SAT [MixSessions] invites you to experience their mandate first
hand. The following artists will be interacting at this event:

Mitchell Akiyama

Montreal-based musician and media artist Mitchell
Akiyama is perhaps best known for his electronic deconstructions of
traditional instrumental music. Since his debut on Alien8 Recordings,
Hope That Lines Don’t Cross, he has emerged as one of Canada’s premier
electronic composers and has recorded with internationally renowned
labels Raster Noton (Germany) and SubRosa (Belgium). Akiyama’s music
is a study in fiction and texture. In 2001 Akiyama founded intr_version
records to address the under-representation of Canadian composers of
electronic music. It has since become a look-to outlet for music at
the intersection of digital culture.

Dana Dal Bo

Co director of Anadama Dana Dal Bo is a multi disciplinary
artist with a current focus in textiles. She is interested in intimate
relationships and the history of discarded objects. These concerns are
evident in both her individual and collaborative artistic practice.
Dal Bo is currently working as a research assistant at Hexagram in the
interactive textiles and wearable computing labs. She recently won the
Prix du Centre des arts et des fibres du Quebec.

MaryAnne Petrella

Residue, sentimentality, and geography are major
concerns in Petrella’s multi disciplinary works. Her St. Henri locale
functions as a point of departure – echoing concepts of selvedge, family,
transition, and the day to day. Current collaborations include his+hearse
(with Reaver), and Misssoka-selvedge wear (with Dal Bo), also St. Henri
residents. For this event Petrella’s efforts take shape in small fortunes-
illustrations inspired by Anadama’s Hansel and Gretyl- housed in a delicious
crispy shell.

Reaver

Sound Designer/Webcaster/D.J./Level 60 Rogue Providing
a mix of crunchy beats and dreamy melodies, channeled through the body
of a twenty-three year old video game addict.

An Soubiran

Co director of Anadama, An Soubiran is a Montreal
based painter and twin. In the tradition of the portrait he stages dual
relationships. His work concentrates on the notion of the double, which
he uses to redefine his family dynamic. Dana Dal Bo, born on the same
day and same year as the Soubiran twins, becomes part of the family
dynamic being researched.

Station

Childhood friends Ryan Cassidy and Tom Jones collaborate
to create electronic music and videoscapes. They use a unique blend
of the lo-fi, VCRs, and retro equipment, complimented by more contemporary
technologies. The work draws its inspiration from an eclectic media
pool, including B movies and stock footage, as well as current broadcasting.
The experimental duo will provide superb visual manipulation/creation,
including selections from Anadama’s recent works.
