The Society for Arts and Technology [SAT], the Quartier des spectacles and the arrondissement de Ville-Marie, with collaboration from David “Boots” Bouthillier, are proud to announce the start of a pilot project that legalizes skateboarding at Peace Park / the place de la Paix until September 26.
Launched to support the neighbourhood’s growing vitality, the project offers skaters a series of four special events! Starting with Skate Jam Tuesdays (August 19, August 26 and September 2), the festivities will reach their peak with the celebration of Peace Park’s 20th anniversary. On the schedule for this final event: skate competitions, DJs, food, music performances, and the screening of a film presenting Peace Park’s highlights, all of this with, as guests, some non-profits working in the neighbourhood.
More than a glimpse of how skateboarding can be a viable practice in the heart of the city, with this project we want to show the positive impact skaters can have by mixing the neighbourhood’s vibrant energy with Peace Park’s community spirit.
Events open to all, come and join us!
August 19 to September 20

Following the great success of the Peace Park documentary screening night during the summer of 2013, a documentary which describes the evolution of Peace Park/Place de la Paix in a mecca for the Montreal skateboarding community, the ways skaters were seen started to shift…
In June 2014, David Bouthillier presented the current pilot project to the Montreal mayor during a borough council, and the project was approved. It is thus now allowed to practice skateboarding at Peace Park/Place de la Paix from Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 9 PM, until September 26: enjoy!
