Born into a family of music lovers, Jean-Philippe Audin began studying the cello and, after winning a First Prize, went on to perfect his skills as a trio player. He joined the recording studios and discovered on stage the delirium of Tom Jones, the comic power of Jerry Lewis, the thousand colours of song with Paul Anka, Léo Ferré, Sammy Davis and Charles Aznavour, and the musical comedy of Starmania and Les Misérables.
He discovered the joys of pop star life with OCARINA, which topped the Top 50 and Top 30 charts for months, collecting gold, platinum and diamond discs worldwide and selling over six and a half million albums. He has developed the “videocello”, a cello that allows him to play images associated with the musical performance in real time. In 2008, for the Cannes Film Festival, he arranged and conducted the music for the Twin Peaks series with David Lynch.
He has become the partner and soloist of many contemporary film music composers: Jean-Michel Bernard, Bruno Coulais, Eric Serra, Nathaniel Méchaly, Krishna Lévy, Alexandre Desplat, Gabriel Yared, Nicolas Errera, Bruno Fontaine, Evgueny and Sacha Galpérine, Patrice Peyreras, Michel Legrand and Arnaud Rebotini, winner of the 2018 César award for film music with "120 Battements.
