Description

The screens of the SAT will bleed for this first evening of visuals
challenge. Come to hoot or acclaim your preferred video fighters, coming
from the four corners of the world to clash without pity on the digital
boxing ring: all the blows are allowed in this pixels against pixels
without mercy.

Docteur Douleur

Where is he from? What’s his real name? Is he really a doctor? Little
is
known about the origins of this man of science, and the mystery surrounding
his beginnings is fuelled by rumors that confirm and contradict one another.

In 1983, he appears at the Kiev Technological Exposition to present
to the
world a series of surprising and incongruous inventions. Since then, he
continues his experiments and discoveries in his laboratory located on top
of Mount Vildécan. The controversial scientist is currently conducting
research in a wide array of fields, namely: emotional mathematics,
bio-religious cyber-computing and evolutionary neuroscience.

Arisen from the ocean on Brittany’s coasts, Ouananiche overflowed France
with his videos like a breaker. Brought up with Saint Malo’s pirates,
he’s a voracious fish, jumping out the water to catch his prey, and fighting
to asphyxia when he’s struck. Winner of the VJ Contest VISION-R in Paris
in 2006, he comes across the Atlantic Ocean, determined to harpoon the
victory here at the WWVJC of Montreal.

Strengths and special moves :

“De gustibus et coloribus non disputandum”

jocool doesn’t really know if he is a Puertorican child but he
knows he has some brown blood in the veins… jocool is often off
dreaming to Brazil dancing the Samba… He is a child of the Green
City Suburban Zone… from the Pink Lot Buildings… jocool
plays with the colors and the transitions as of a bazooka… shebam
zap slam pop wiiizz… VJs move away because jocool is here !

General Molotov returns from the Siberian steppes, armed with the new
military secrecies which are intended to destroy all the participants
of this new world challenge. For him, the war is not over, and it is
on the wrestle ring where no more convention is valid that he generates
his destruction. The WWVJC rings the bell of a new dictatorship that
will finally oppress all the VJ of the world.

Young Dj, located in Montreal since 3 years. Electro Minimal Addict,
plays also Live in a minimalist style and started to compose in the same
way.

OSO 3

Stefano Pando carries a classical and modern music background. Having
studied music in Montreal and at Eastman School of Music in Rochester,
NY, USA, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in early music as a Lute
performer. His classical training also included a wide variety of musical
areas such as electro-acoustic, composition, musical arrangement, orchestration,
piano, bass guitar, electric and classical guitar.

Cyan

DJ, radio host and producer Cyan aka Corina MacDonald has been an active
participant in Montreal’s electronic music scene since her arrival
in the city in 1996. From that time she has been involved in community
radio, hosting electronic music shows on CKUT 90.3 fm. Currently she
hosts modular_systems, an electronic music magazine show focusing on
local artists, djs and events. Cyan has been active in organizing events
with the phoniq.net, Robo/tek and Women on Wax crews
modular systems is broadcast on sundays from 1600-1700 est on CKUT 90.3

LUMEA

Martin Lalonde, artist in visual arts residing in Montreal is registered
today under the pseudonym of VJ LUMEA for the diffusion of a multiform
art of the transcendence and interior voyage (LUMEA: Name, Rumanian,
female, 1. totality of all that exists in reality, the universe, cosmos)
After a Baccalaureat in creation of visual arts, Martin Lalonde develops
achievements in the field of the installation, the sculpture, the photography
and the video. He obtains in 2004 a purse of the ONF for a film remix
of files. The same year, he is assistant realizer and video technician
on a production of Dance-Cité entitled Quarantaine. In 2005, he
takes part in the collective of audio video creation Mal Parlant, where
the DVD Les Pensées deviennent alors banales is launch and rewarded
by a scholarship for diffusion from the faculty association for the students
in arts of the UQAM. Through the worship of the harmony, the work of
Martin Lalonde places the material dimension of the video medium in the
center of its formal concerns, and it is the search of the heart that
undertakes the research of the meaning.

The Ouananiche is a fish who swim against the
current. Behind this fish hide a man: Cédric Chabuel, film director,
radio documentary producer (Arteradio, Bande à part) and musician.
He was nominated twice at the Festival des Réseaux de la Création
2004 (Paris) and at VJ Vision-R festival 2006 (AVIT Paris), etc. In
the stream of video picture mixed into live, Ouananiche come back to
the source: the poetry drawn from the reality’s simplicity. His
Veejaying’s approch is distinguishable by the narration. Plunged
into improvisation abd variety, he is able to go with the music to
move away from her, to float or to fall on like a video musician.

After 3 years of visual performances in France,
he was settled in Québec where he blow bubbles for more than
one years (Lab Project’s parties, Nouveau Cinema festival, Souk
Machines, SAT, etc.). Following the creation of a first audiovisual
show in 2004, “le Voyage de Marion” by Le Marionnettiste
(duo with 10tordu), a tale who combine electronic music and VJ, Ouananiche
continues his research of videomusic composition ( wich we will find
by example on the next DVD of the french label VIDIO-ATAK planned for
2007). Tonight he’ll perform an audiovisual live remixing sound
and image of a chinese opera.

New media artist, Joseph Lefèvre aka VJ
chef_joseph is the co-founder and coordinator of the SAT[MixSessions]
a collective of Vjs & Djs creators at the Society for Art and Technology
(SAT) in Montreal.

He is active in the technology arts field since
1995 as an artist and a visual performer. His style may be figurative
or abstract but most often poetic. His original visual sources fit
inside the various thematics of the events where he performs LIVE.
He likes to explore every gender and he is aware of the musicians feedbacks
and the public reaction to his work.

Joseph Lefevre has been involved beside many other
venues, in the pixelACHE VJ Festival, Helsinki, Apocalypse Rave 2004,
Montreal, in the New Media Film Festival (FCMM), Montreal, in [Ex]teriori
exhibition, Mexico-City and in NexArt, new media part of the Florida
Film Festival.
