The SAT is calling for artistic projects in augmented reality, for summer and fall 2011.
The SAT, for its research and creation residency program, would like to invite artists and creatives from diverse horizons to submit a project in the field of augmented reality, in domains such as visual arts, music, litterature, theater, fashion, architecture, dance etc.
The artworks will be displayed on the web or on mobile platforms, and will remain accessible for a 5 years duration.
The general public will be able to visit this “virtual exposition”, obtain information about the work, the artist, share and comment his experience.
A committee will select proposals. A training will be offered to the selected participants, that will allow them to develop their project with the support from the Metalab experts.
Mixed and augmented reality bring new and different experiences to the public, by superimposing virtual constructs to real spaces.
In artistic and cultural fields, it has now been exploited for virtual expositions or augmented guided tours. While expositions make use of augmented reality, the exposed artworks quite often remain classic and are not conceived with the perspective of augmented reality in mind.
Examples :
The SAT[Metalab] Research department will develop the tools that will allow artists to create their own augmented experience, by defining the territory – either urban (Quartier des Spectacles), cultural or historical (Canal Lachine), adding their own multimedia objects, defining their interactions and dynamics, using accessible modeling interfaces.
* Les frais de transport et d’hébergement ne sont pas inclus.
One or two projects will be selected to start as early as may, 2011.
Other selected projects will be produced in the course of summer and fall, 2011.
All projects shall be finalized by november, 2011.
