This International Public Art Symposium opens the debate and discussion for everyone concerned about public art in Montreal.
This International Public Art Symposium opens the debate and discussion for everyone concerned about public art in Montreal.
Presentations by internationally renowned professionals in Public Art, followed by a round-table discussion, will explore exceptional examples of original public art projects in diverse locations that make use of creative solutions and ideas.
Montreal was at the forefront of this movement with Expo 67, which featured such memorable public art as Buckminster Fuller’s sculptural geodesic dome, Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely’s Paradis fantastique on the roof of the French Pavilion and the outstanding stabile Man by Alexander Calder, which was donated to the city by its owner Vale Inco. With its extraordinary sites and its renown as a cultural metropolis, Montreal remains a centre for public art today.
