From June 15th to 19th 2010, Toronto will be the hottest place in the world for independent media artists, producers, presenters and distributors. Burn the date in your memory, the Independent Media Arts Alliance biennial conference is ON.Fire!
ON.Fire is 5 smokin’ days, featuring over 40 blazing artists and red hot presenters, hosted by the Media Arts Network of Ontario.
On top of 5 hot-topic panel discussions and the IMAA AGM, here is a look at some of the programs ON.Fire is planning:
Every Day Starts With Art: To foreground the practices of working media artists, each morning of ON.Fire starts with art. The program pairs an artist from Ontario with an artist from another region to screen short works and to engage in a moderated conversation about their respective practices.
Keynote Presentations: ON.Fire gives the first and last words of the conference program to media artists as keynote speakers. We are excited to confirm that our opening keynote speakers this year are Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller.
5 à 7 : a daily program hosted by different artist-run centres or other presenting venues each evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm for delegates to network with local artists, curators, programmers and administrators in the performing, media and visual arts to strengthen cross-disciplinary institutional collaborations in independent media arts programming.
Festival ON.Fire: a public program of curated screenings and installations that will present works that address conference related topics and showcase unique, powerful and interactive media exhibitions. Festival ON.Fire will take place at various venues around the city.
