Introduction

The residency programme is making a trans-disciplinary research laboratory available which offers artists recognised in their field SAT’s technical resources and know-how.

Offering both multichannel sound production solutions and tools for production of video content for immersive projection (360 degrees), the labodome resources will allow the artists to redifine their creative methods and to question audio-visual and media production standards.

This will be available at no cost to artists selected by a commitee of experts in technological arts.

Criteria

  • To be recognised as a professional artist and have experience in video production;
  • To have knowledge of photoshop, After-Effects, Premiere and/or Final Cut Pro;
  • To have access to a laptop computer with the video-editing software mentionned above;
  • To have access to an external NTFS 100GO hard-drive;
  • To be able to operate Mac OS X 10.5, AVI and MOV formats and know how to transcode a video;
  • To have a good knowledge of written and spoken French and to be available for the training period;
  • To provide a portfolio in DVD format and an up-to-date CV;
  • To read the infokit and information about the DOMAGAYA project (http://www.sat.qc.ca/infokit);
  • To provide a covering letter (max. 1 page).

Aims

  • To give artists a grounding in the creation of immersive video contents (360 degrees)
  • To introduce artists to the building of sequences for the SAT[osphere], SAT’s immersive device;
  • To introduce artists to the control of video perfomance in the SAT[osphere];
  • To experiment with the creation of animated linear contents and with the creation of animated material for live performance;
  • To experiment with handling of live video animation loops;
  • To allow artists to present immersive content for the SAT[osphere].

Results

This intensive training programme aims to promote and develop artistic talent in technological art for the immersive content program in the SAT[osphere]. With this project, we aim to help artists to create original content as part of SAT’s catalogue of immersive video productions.

Expected results :

  • To acquire knowledge of immersive content production and for live projects in the SAT[osphere];
  • To further improve knowledge of the immersive creation system developped by SAT.
