Last year, Erin Laing took home the Cours écrire ton court Grand Prize for her film Birthday Girl. Following a screening of the film, the filmmaker will answer the audience’s questions and talk about her experience.

COURS ÉCRIRE TON COURT!
An annual meeting of emerging and professional screenwriters. Short-film lovers are invited to a reading of seven brand new scripts, hosted by Frédéric Desager at the SAT. The finalists are: PHILIPPE-DAVID GAGNÉ, consultant: Geneviève Lefevbre; KIM BUBBS, consultant: Tara Johns; CAROLINE BÂCLE, consultant: Joanne Arseneau; ALEXIS FORTIER GAUTHIER, consultant: Marc Robitaille; LISA LÊ, consultant: Pierre-Yves Bernard; DANIEL SCHACHTER, consultant: Arto Paragamian; and, finally, BENOIT DESJARDINS, consultant: Normand Canac-Marquis.During the month of September 2007, the finishing touches were put on these seven scripts during workshops held at the Vieille Brasserie in Lachine. A five-member jury will award three prizes during a reception sponsored by CHRISTAL FILMS. THE GRAND PRIZEincludes a $55,000 production budget from SODEC, $2,000 worth ofKODAK FILMstock, $4,000 from VISION GLOBALE, $3,500 for credits by DULUDE DESIGNand a broadcast licence from TÉLÉ-QUÉBEC, as well as a $5,000 screenwriting award from the CONSEIL DES ARTS ET DES LETTRES DU QUÉBEC, the SARTEC Special Mention: a $1,000 prize for a French-language script, the CBC/WGC Prize for Best English-Language Script, worth $1,000. The public will award the Prix coup de coeur LOCATIONS MICHEL TRUDEL, a $1,000 prize.

Ninja Tune and Big Dada’s event will combine audio and visual delight in celebration of Big Dada’s 10th anniversary, and the release of the retrospective CD/DVD Well Deep.
