A unique yearly event consisting of multimedia exploration, Dérapage was founded by the UQAM School of Design. This event is designed for anyone interested by experimental short film production, whether they have an artistic background or not. It welcomes people from a broad range of disciplines to create a non-narrative video from 30 seconds up to a maximum of 3 minutes.Dérapage is a unique occasion to step off the beaten track of traditional filmmaking. Breaking new ground for moving images and sound exploration, it sweeps away conventions and offers a hint of craziness that appeals to us all.
Minute Moment is a participative laboratory for mixing artistic, political, social, philosophical and other ideas. It is an audiovisual playground that explores every creative possibility offered by video. From fiction to pure experimentation, as well as visual poetry, everything is permitted. The challenge? To create videos that run 60 seconds on the dot. Bring your QuickTime videos in DV-NTSC format on a USB key, iPod, or external hard drive on the night of the event. The videos are then posted online on the remarkable web gallery MomentFactory.com/Minutes. Inspiration theme: Dance Dance. Come share your works or simply come to admire and discover the works of others!
Mixing electronic arpeggios, pop melodies and animated videos, this binary trio’s deepest desire is to get people shaking their booties in aesthetically questionable ways.
