Human Instrument is an a cappella performance that provoques a synaesthetic experience of “looking at sound”.
With the use of live cymatics, the human voice projected onto physical matter dance together with light reflections provoking iconic patterns reflecting the intricacies of the human voice.
This project received the support of the creation program of works from the SAT.

RAFAELLE MACKAY
Musical Director, Co-creator & Vocalist
Rafaelle Mackay is a singer, musical director and therapeutic musician based in Montreal.
Her passion in the pure essence of the human voice is obvious in her vocal improvisation, compositions and her approach to ambient music -both acoustic and electronic.
Additionally, she is a teacher, guide and facilitator with creative choirs and vocal retreats.
Rafaelle has studied Jazz at Concordia University and Hindustani classical voice in Varanasi, India.
ISABELLA SALAS
Co-creator & Art Director
Born and raised in Mexico City, Isabella moved to Montreal, Canada in 2001 to follow her major in Film Production at Concordia University. Her curiosity and method drive her work into an organic relationship between storytelling, philanthropy, filmmaking and technology.
Parallel to her artistic residence called Human Instrument, she works as a visual director, concept creator and multimedia producer for different companies.
PATRICK TRUDEAU
Motion-designer & Integrator
Patrick Trudeau (alias Diagraf) is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in Montreal, Quebec. While mostly recognized as a digital visual artist, he is also a VJ, DJ, composer, and filmmaker.
His work in those fields features a forward thinking minimalist aesthetic combined with a science fiction sensibility, exploring notions of futurism, metaphysics, existentialism and humanism. His projects as Diagraf and Orbital Mechanics have been featured in a number of major festivals and events. His current trajectory is leading him increasingly towards generative performances, immersive audiovisual works, and virtual/augmented reality projects.
