The SAT is honored to host Deadbeat for a rare live performance and DJ: Berlin-based artist Scott Monteith, better known by his stage name Deadbeat, has made a major contribution to the local scene, considered one of the pillars of Montreal’s first wave of electronic music.
He will also showcase his new live AV show with Italian singer and video artist Letizia Trussi under the name Ark Welders Guild (making its debut at Mutek in 2023). To close the evening, Monteith will share the decks with long-time collaborator and friend Cristobal Urbina. An evening not to be missed!

Scott Monteith, known as Deadbeat, is a prolific Canadian-born, Berlin-based artist transitioning from his Deadbeat persona in 2024 with "The Lichen Diaries Vol 1". Spanning a career launching 23 albums, numerous singles, and myriad remixes, Monteith's work has been a staple in electronic music.

His evolution reflects a desire to explore beyond dub techno, showcasing his diverse musical talents across genres like techno, house, ambient, and more. This new phase aims to embrace and present his breadth of artistic capability.
Ark Welders Guild is the audio-visual performance and recording project of Italian singer and art curator Letizia Trussi and Canadian musician Scott Monteith, best known by his stage name Deadbeat. Combining Trussi's visual motifs of AI-generated content and Monteith’s road movies, the duo weave a complex web of poly-rhythmic audio-visual psychedelia spanning diverse genres and tempos. In Summer 2023 they performed in major festival festivals such as Waking Life (PT), Ozora (HU) Houghton Festival (UK), and MUTEK Montréal (CA).
Chilean-born DJ Cristobal Urbina (aka DJ Poontz) is co-founder of the Montreal techno label Fur Trade Recordings. Fur Trade has 15 releases, 5 on vinyl, after 7 years running, these include Berlin-based artists The Mole and Hreno, Chicago producer Bill. Cristobal’s dynamic sets express the elements of sound that he has collected from Chile to Ecuador to Brooklyn to Montréal and have made crowds bounce, from Detroit to Berlin and back.
