Support the SAT

Contribute to the Montreal artistic ecosystem

The Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) is committed to fostering the growth of digital arts. Through its diverse range of activities, the SAT serves as a vibrant hub where artists, audiences, and pioneers in technological research come together to collaborate.

From creation and distribution to research and education, our distinctive network drives and invigorates the digital arts culture, with the SAT standing as one of North America’s leading centers in this field.

Support an independent, accessible, and unifying SAT!

The SAT is a non-profit organization (NPO): supporting it is an investment in the continued relevance and sustainability of this important institution, ensuring that every dollar directly contributes to fulfilling its mission.

Support an INDEPENDENT SAT!

Amid the growing dominance of monopolies in the cultural sector, the SAT functions independently as a hub for creation, distribution, research, and education. Our autonomy is crucial for nurturing the development of innovative immersive experiences, free from compromise or limitation.

Your support enables us to maintain an open and free space for supporting the diverse talents that evolve within our walls, from the ideation of a project to its widest possible dissemination.

In concrete terms, this means…

  • Offering artists residencies that provide them with the time, space, and equipment necessary for creation, while ensuring they receive a fair income. This allows them to maintain their independence in the face of growing commercial pressures.
  • Investing in the production of immersive works by our resident artists and showcasing them to a local and international distribution network.
  • Taking risks with programming to provide a platform for emerging artists or those from underrepresented communities.
  • Independently conducting research and development (R&D) programs, based on opportunities for innovation identified through our strategic monitoring, in order to advance cutting-edge uses and technologies.
  • Publishing our R&D work as open-source code and offering free access to our digital toolbox, facilitating its adoption by the general public.
  • Operating self-managed catering services (café, restaurant).

Support an ACCESSIBLE SAT!

Barriers to accessing creative technologies and cultural activities, along with the rising cost of living, make it increasingly difficult for digital culture to be accessible to everyone.

To address the needs of the community, the SAT prioritizes accessibility across all its activities. At the core of our mission is a commitment to inclusion and the removal of both physical and socio-economic barriers of participation.

As financial pressures mount on cultural organizations, your donations help us sustain our commitment to accessibility and further open the doors of the SAT to a broader audience.

In concrete terms, this means…

  • Encouraging the next generation of new talents through grants and giving carte blanche to electronic music collectives that highlight underrepresented cultures.
  • Democratizing the use of digital tools for all audiences through accessible training sessions for people aged 7 to 77, both at the SAT and beyond (school field trips, public libraries, workshops for elderly people, etc.)
  • Committing to a diverse program, with events ranging from community gatherings to internationally renowned festivals, aimed at audiences from all walks of life.
  • Providing a consistently accessible pricing policy, along with enriching free artistic programming, including exhibition spaces and works in the dome.
  • Continuing to improve the universal accessibility of our building.
  • Developing tailored activities for audiences with mental and/or physical disabilities.

Support a UNIFYING SAT!

The SAT is a place of convergence where creators, artists, and audiences meet and interact in a spirit of collaboration and exchange. By offering residencies, workshops, and events that encourage cooperation rather than counterproductive competition, the SAT contributes to the maturity of the sector and the creation of a dynamic and interconnected community. This unifying role fosters dialogue and stimulates collective innovation, creating a space where ideas flow and talents grow together.

Donations help us sustain our programs, build more partnerships, and share our space with a wide range of community actors.

In concrete terms, this means…

  • Focusing on multidisciplinary projects that create lasting links between artistic communities, the academic world, and the business sector.
  • Guiding collaborative artistic projects to nurture the development of new talent.
  • Programming and hosting networking events to unite the community of artists and professionals, and to facilitate exchanges within the sector.
  • Developing projects in collaboration with organizations focused on social innovation and artistic mediation to engage marginalized audiences.
  • Playing an active role in the life and vibrancy of the neighborhood by hosting free cultural events in public spaces, in collaboration with local organizations (film screenings, block parties, creative workshops, and more).
  • Establishing an archive center to preserve the heritage of digital arts.

Your donations directly support all of these initiatives.

With its social economy model, all of the SAT’s revenue is reinvested into the needs of its mission, making it not only independent but also free to support projects that align with its values.

The autonomy and diversification of the SAT’s revenue are priorities to ensure the sustainability of the collaborations that thrive within it. We therefore need your support to maintain and develop all of our projects! Donations, regardless of their amount, are an essential financial resource and a concrete way to invest in the creativity of tomorrow.
