Proposed workshops

Audio creation & DJing

This workshop allows your group to become familiar with different software, controllers and mixers, including Ableton Live and Serato DJ Intro. At the end of the workshop, participants will have learned how to compose, mix and record a musical sequence. Objectives: to discover the concepts and techniques of sound mixing and create a musical sequence.

Video creation

A workshop to discover the art of video editing and sound/image recording. Learn post-production techniques such as adding titles and transitions in addition to creating video effects with green screen capture. Objectives: To learn camera settings and the use of different video effects.

Frame-by-frame animation

Introductory workshop to discover frame-by-frame [stop motion] animation. This workshop allows participants to learn various approaches related to cinematographic language, namely shooting, staging, lighting and scenography. Objectives: create animations with drawings and objects using animation tools and software.

3D creation

Discover the artistic possibilities related to 3D with Blender software! Participants will learn how to make 3D images, play with shapes and animate them. Your group will also learn the basics of animation and become familiar with 3D modeling and Blender software. Objective: to create your own 3D model and environment.

Collaborative work with Raspberry Pi

Discover the artistic possibilities offered by the Raspberry Pi microcomputer and writing code! As part of the workshop, participants will be led in the creation of a collaborative project. Objective: This workshop allows participants to become familiar with the Raspberry Pi microcomputer and concepts about networks. Participants will learn about the coding language Python and in general, processing programming languages.

Programming and electronics with Arduino

An introductory creative workshop using the Arduino microcontroller and programming. Objectives: design a light sequence, become familiar with electronic components, create a prototyping electronic circuit, and learn about computer programming.

Workshop options

Workshops vary in length and come in two options, with either one or two artist-instructors.

The two artist-instructor option is very popular, because students have the opportunity to discover approaches and tools in two artistic disciplines.

Please keep in mind, it is possible to adapt the content of our training courses to align with your learning objectives.

  • Duration: 2.5 hours
  • Price: $700.00

Visit and tour of the SAT + Satosphere Projection + 2-hour workshop

  • Duration: 3.5 hours
  • Price: $950.00

Visit and tour of the SAT + Satosphere Projection + 3-hour workshop

  • Duration: 4.5 hours
  • Price: $1200.00

  • Number of participants per visit: to be confirmed depending on the workshop chosen, (25 participants max per workshop)

Availability of the Satosphere

Discover the Satosphere!

  • For groups wishing to view a projection in the Satosphere, (SAT’s immersive dome), the visit must start between 9:00 – 9:30am on weekdays.
  • Please note that some Mondays are available for groups that can only arrive between 10:00 – 11:00am.
  • For groups unable to come in the morning, a special option, based on longer workshops, is available.
  • It is also possible to organize a visit at the end of the day and obtain a 20% discount for shows and evening screenings starting at 7 p.m.

Warning for the Satosphere:

We would like to advise that the film presented in the Satosphere may contain sequences with movement, visual effects or light flashes. We invite spectators who are sensitive or inconvenienced by these effects to close their eyes for a moment or to leave the dome in case of discomfort.
