CALL FOR PROJECTS IN RESIDENCE - 2025~26

Creation program

Date limite : January 4, 2025
Open: Nov 27, 2024

The Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) present its new call for projects in residence for 2025-26.

This call is aimed at artists and media arts collectives, focusing on the creation and production of original works for the dome. Each candidate is required to submit a form along with a portfolio that demonstrates their autonomy and ability to execute a visual and sound creation project in a dome environment.

This year, we invite artists to reimagine memories in motion —its preservation, transformations, and blind spots.

Selected projects will be integrated into our 2025-2026 programming.

SAT wishes to contribute to an inclusive and diverse cultural scene. It encourages women, trans and non-binary people, members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities, members of Indigenous communities, racialized people, visible and/or ethnic minorities, as well as people with disabilities to submit their proposals.

We ask you to properly read our guide for this call for projects before submitting your application.

What is the theme?

This year, we invite artists to reimagine memories in motion —its preservation, transformations, and blind spots.

The tools and data ecosystems shaping our world today challenge the way we store, process, and affect our shared histories. Immersive art offers a dynamic space for creative experimentation and probes our perception of the world through the transformative lens of collective artistic experiences.

Through this theme, we encourage artists to explore the tensions between permanence and ephemerality, and the emerging pathways that connect the two.

Different tracks could be explored   :

  • Navigating collective realities in an era of hyper-individualism : How do we reconcile fragmented perspectives into shared narratives
  • Memories as a negotiation : Beyond fragmentation and alteration, what do we choose to preserve, and why?
  • Subverting algorithms and reclaiming personal data: How can these tools become catalysts for agency and creative expression?
  • Cultures : a collective shift? How are shared identities reshaped in moments of crisis or transformation?
  • Novel Ecologies: How do hybrid systems emerge from the intersection of natural phenomenon and technological processes?
  • Shaping the immaterial : How do we translate the ephemeral into shared, embodied experiences?

What type of artistic projects are accepted?

This residency aims to support immersive performances, films, or installations for a dome format. Projects can be original creations or adaptations of existing works.

What support will be offered to artists in residence?

  • A creation fee, the amount of which will be established according to the AAMI scale
  • A performance or distribution fee, the amount of which will be established according to the proposed distribution schedule
  • Production support of up to $10,000 in value (space, equipment, support, training, documentation), from the residency to the public presentation

  • During the residency: We will monitor the project’s progress and address its needs throughout the work sessions and in between.
  • Mid-residency: Artists are required to present a developed version of their project at a public presentation.
  • End of residency: Each premiere will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience, followed by a series of presentations.
