Rooted in necromantic rituals—an important aspect of Taiwanese religion and culture—this work explores the profound connection between a revered master and their blindfolded followers. Through these rituals, participants gradually navigate reality by passing through shifting “scenes” of consciousness. Reimagined within a virtual environment, the film delves into these altered states using a rich sonic landscape: ambient sounds, field recordings, traditional Taiwanese music and modern instruments interweaved with a fusion of Eastern and Western electronic practices. By blurring the boundaries between the spiritual and the digital, this piece invites reflection on how emerging technologies like virtual reality are reshaping our understanding of identities, sensory perceptions and rituals.
