Learn how to adapt your sound pieces from one playback format to another, in real time.
Do you have a sound creation that you want to adapt to a new listening environment, whether for an installation or a multichannel setup? Combining theory, practical demonstrations, and discussions, this masterclass presents an innovative method of object-based audio mapping—used notably at the SAT—to translate different audio rendering formats, whether standard (e.g. ITU) or non-standard, to any speaker configuration, such as the Satosphere or the SAT’s sound studio.
What is object-based audio mapping? This approach consists of mapping a set of virtual loudspeakers X (input signals), associated with a given 2D or 3D format or configuration, onto another diffusion system composed of physical loudspeakers Y (output signals). One of the key advantages of audio mapping is that it can be performed in real time, offering great flexibility to quickly adjust and validate the rendering sound, according to the space and playback setup.
To further develop your sound practice, we also invite you to sign up for the Masterclass – Strategies for Spatial Composition, designed to develop your techniques for creating spatialized sound works. By registering for both courses, you benefit from a $75 discount (value of $280).
