MUTEK FORUM X SAT

As part of their strategic alliance, SAT is co-presenting a series of events at the MUTEK Forum: masterclass, panel, presentation, and creative workshop.

August 26 - 10AM to 12PM

Collective Interactivity, presented by the SAT (Masterclass)
What happens when the audience stops watching and starts co-creating? Led by Manuel Bolduc (SAT), this masterclass introduces the principles and practice of collective interactivity - an approach to artistic creation where moving bodies become the primary interface. Whether through crowd movement within an installation, a public space, or a performance, collective interaction transforms the visual and sonic universe of a work in real time, creating fluid, intuitive dialogue between human presence and scenic environment.

August 27 - 4:30PM to 5:15PM

Biosignals in Digital Art, presented by the SAT (Panel)
The use of physiological signals in creative practice (EEG, ECG, GSR, PPG, HRV, respiration, and movement data) is gradually moving out of the laboratory to take root in more structured production frameworks. Approaches remain fragmented across scenes (cognitive neuroscience, vocal performance, interactive cinema, generative AI, live coding) and regions. Presented by the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) and moderated by Jean-Michaël Celerier, this panel creates a public gathering point for practitioners to confront methods, ambitions, and limits on the same stage, including the ethical stakes of the field: consent, ownership of biometric data, capture in public settings.

August 26 - 2PM to 2:15PM

Village numérique : Light Play (Presentation)
A highlight of Village Numérique 2026, Jeu(x) de lumières is an interactive light installation developed by the Society for arts and technology (SAT) that transforms the concrete tiles of Place de la Paix into a collective playground. Using a 3D sensor system, the installation detects movement and responds through motorized lights embedded in the floor, inviting passersby into spontaneous, playful interactions with one another. This project marks 30 years of creativity and innovation at SAT, and is designed from the ground up with the neighbourhood in mind.

August 26 - 2PM to 4PM

Light-Reactive Badge Making with Dr. Lee Cyborg (Workshop)
Join us for a free, open-to-the-public workshop at Café SAT. Under the guidance of Dr. Lee Cyborg, participants learn the basics of soldering while building their own personalized MUTEK light-reactive badge to take home. Facilitated by Lee Wilkins and Mourad Bennacer (SAT). This workshop will be conducted in English only, without translation or sign language interpretation.
