To celebrate the grand return of Festival Triste*, EAF and the SAT are teaming up to bring you an evening worthy of the festival’s name on November 28 — expect melancholy, introspection, and intense emotions!
Let yourself be lulled by the melancholy of Anna Arrobas’s ballads, singing about love, longing, sacrifice, and the divine. She is joined by Quinn Bachand, performing under the moniker Without Me Nothing Laughs; together, they will present a new, darker atmospheric body of work, blending electronic music with traditional folk instruments (hurdy-gurdy, dulcimer, organ, etc.).
Next up is Kee Avil, armed with her guitar and her delicate voice — both of which conceal a controlled storm that seeps through the seams of her glitchy, erratic productions — before surprising you with more tender moments.
Leila Bordreuil will close the night with a modified cello set, distorting its sound to envelop the audience in layers of noise and feedback, creating a lush, moving tapestry of sound.
Come shed a tear with us at this intimate concert…… </3

ARTISTS
Leila Bordreuil
Leila Bordreuil is a French-American cellist, composer and sound artist based in Brooklyn. Using the cello as her primary medium, she creates music that moves between noise, contemporary classical, improvisation and drone. Her live performances challenge conventional cello practice through extreme amplification, harsh noise and lush feedback, while her ensemble compositions explore sound spatialization, room resonance and environmental sound. Deeply rooted in improvisation and experimentation, Bordreuil has collaborated with artists including Lee Ranaldo, Kali Malone, Laurel Halo, Drew McDowall, Marina Rosenfeld, Zeena Parkins, Thurston Moore and Senyawa. She has performed at Lincoln Center, the Whitney Museum, MoMA PS1, Barbican, Le Guess Who? and Berlin Atonal, among many others. A 2025 Camargo Foundation Fellow and 2022–23 Jerome Foundation Fellow, she has also held residencies at Haus der Kunst, INA GRM and MacDowell. Her latest solo album, 1991, Summer, Huntington Garage Fire, is out on Hanson Records.
Kee Avil blends guitar, voice, and electronic production into deconstructed songs shaped by avant-pop, industrial and experimental folk. Her first albums, ‘Spine’ (2024) and ‘Crease’ (2022), were released on Constellation Records as Bandcamp Album of the Day and received praise from The Wire, The Quietus, Le Devoir, BBC6, Line of Best Fit, and Exclaim!. As a compelling voice in experimental songcraft, Kee Avil evokes PJ Harvey, Eartheater, SOPHIE, and Lucretia Dalt, where Juana Molina meets Autechre. Her third album ‘Vapor’ will be released on October 9, 2026 on NNA Tapes. She has toured extensively, including festivals like Rewire, Les Nuits Botanique, A Colossal Weekend, Pop Montreal, Sled Island, Ruhrtriennale, Le Guess Who?, Guelph and Vancouver Jazz Festival, and supporting bands such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Xiu Xiu, SUUNS and Big | Brave.
Anna Arrobas & Without Me Nothing Laughs is the new project from Montreal singer and songwriter Anna Arrobas and producer and multi-instrumentalist Quinn Bachand, from Victoria, BC. Together they make dark, atmospheric, electronic music from early, traditional instruments. Their sound is built around the timbres of hurdy-gurdy, hammered dulcimer, uilleann pipes and pump organ. Quinn bows, strikes, detunes, distorts, samples and re-pitches them into unique and otherworldly sonic textures. Anna's unguarded and ethereal voice sings of love, longing, sacrifice and the divine. Quinn was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2019 (Best Instrumental Composition) and a JUNO in 2022 (Traditional Roots Album of the Year). He has worked as a producer and collaborator with Robin Guthrie, Sonic Boom and His Name Is Alive. Anna released her debut LP Made to Touch in 2022 on Éditions Appærent, after her 2019 EP Metal Locket. She has shared stages with HTRK, Suuns, Corridor, Anika and Marie Davidson.
