A transparent bioplastic membrane floats above the ground. Several sensor-equipped cables extend from it, climbing toward the ceiling and walls where they attach, like tentacles searching for nourishment and energy. Connected to the building, the installation inhabits the architecture, converting the residual flows, energy, and activity circulating within it into electricity. This recovered energy feeds into the membrane’s lighting system, gently bringing it to life. Like a film strip in which frames appear one after another, the patterns embedded within the membrane’s material reveal the imprints of obsolete electronic components — flat screens, cables, computers, and their peripherals. Frame after frame, these traces gradually merge into the surface and slowly disappear, like an open-pit mine being progressively buried, like the fossil of our era.

Be Vardų, Be Kojų: Traces is an interactive installation that invites visitors to follow the movements of traditional Lithuanian folk dances along a guided floor path. Participants’ movements are captured in real time, influencing projections of masculine and feminine figures that intersect, overlap, and transform.
By revisiting these choreographies, visitors take part in a reinterpretation of the traditions and stories they carry. The work questions the gender roles embedded in folk dance and imagines a more inclusive tradition, where identities and bodies can move freely beyond inherited norms. Through movement, Be Vardų, Be Kojų: Traces invites everyone to participate in a collective story that continues to evolve.
