UNE MINUTE DE PLUS is deeply honored to present, on September 12, one of the most influential figures in house music and a Detroit legend, Delano Smith, for the second edition of From Detroit to Montréal at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT).
“Delano Smith influenced either all or most of the Techno generation.” — Jeff Mills
A pioneer of Detroit’s DJ scene since the late 1970s, Delano Smith has shaped a unique sound: progressive, tech-soul, and deeply rooted. Today, he is recognized as one of the founding pillars of Detroit’s house music culture, having directly inspired artists such as Derrick May, Jeff Mills, and Juan Atkins. His profound impact on an entire generation makes him one of the most influential figures in the history of electronic music.
From Detroit to Montréal II is a two-part cultural event bringing together heritage, conversation, and knowledge sharing around the roots of Detroit house and techno, through the story and legacy of one of its legends.
